With the Additive4Rail project, the SNCF renews its confidence in 3D printing
SNCF joined the Additive4Rail consortium, now made up of the École Centrale de Nantes, VLM Robotics and 4D Pioneers the start-up specializing in the production of industrial parts. Through this partnership, the SCNF wishes to optimize train maintenance through 3D printing and manufacture parts on demand.
“By opting for 3D printing, and by calling on companies specializing in the field, the SNCF aims to reduce prototyping, tooling and supply times, thus improving the availability of trains and also to drastically reduce the quantity of spare parts stocks, and therefore the costs they generate.”
